The USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Research Station, Wildland Recreation and Urban Cultures division has released the July 2007 Recreation Research Update (No. 61).
According to a Kaiser Family Foundation study, children 8 to 18 spend 6.5 hours a day watching television or engaged with some form of electronic media. The National Wildlife Federation is actively encouraging parents and their kids to take a “Green Hour” each day for unstructured play and interaction with the natural world.
Greenhelpline.com has been designed to help British consumers reduce their carbon footprint. The website designers plan on influencing half a million homes to switch to green energy and other sustainable practices.
Flourescent light bulbs are energy efficient, but do contain mercury. The Association of Lighting and Mercury Recyclers has lots of information on safe removal and recycling bulbs.
