The National Park Service Interpretative Development Program and the Eppley Institute for Parks and Public Lands of Indiana University has launched a new training site for interpretation for NPS employees, partners, volunteers, state parks, etc.  The new Foundations of Interpretation is the first course to become available.  It is offered free of charge and introduces interpreters and managers to the purpose, practice, and theory of interpretation.  Additional courses covering each of the ten NPS benchmark interpretive competencies will be posted as they are developed and available for a small registration fee.

Captain Planet Foundation provides small grants in the amount of $250-2,500 for projects that:  promote understanding of environmental issues; focus on hands-on involvement; involve children and young adults (6-18); promote interaction and cooperation within the group; and/or help young people develop planning and problem-solving skills.  NEXT SUBMISSION DATE: September 30, 2008 (submissions are accepted 4 times per year).

Liftoff with Math 2007 -- UNLV’s Careers in Space Math Camps for high school and middle school students.  High School Camp: June 18-23; Middle School Camp: June 25-30. 

Prizes will be awarded for films and video that show environmental progress for the Film Festival held in conjunction with the North American Association for Environmental Education’s annual conference in November 2007.  Deadline to enter: April 30, 2007.
