Where children live significantly affect their chances for success in life, according to the analysis by the Editorial Projects in Education (EPE) Research Center, which based the analysis on its new “Chance-for-Success Index.” The index tracks state efforts to connect education from preschool through postsecondary education and training. The results are available in Quality Counts 2007: From Cradle to Career, Connecting American Education from Birth to Adulthood, produced by Education Week with support from the Pew Center on the States. Teens for Planet Earth is an international program developed by the Education Division of the Wildlife Conservation Society at the Bronx Zoo to support teens as they develop and implement environmental service-learning projects in their local communities. Teens discover their conservation personality, decide which type of service-learning project they want to do, and then create an action plan to make it happen.
