Artist/Naturalist Sharon Schafer is giving a series of lectures, “Walking Among the Emperor Penguins,” to share images and experiences gathered after spending 45 days in the Antarctic this past fall.

The Blind Center of Las Vegas, the Don't Trash Nevada Program of the UNLV Public Lands Institute and the UNLV Rebel Recycling Program will be collecting monitors, computers, keyboards, printers, computer accessories, printers, printer cartridges, cell phones and cell phone batteries in the white lot of the Thomas and Mack Center between 8 a.m. and noon on Saturday, March 3rd. Univision Radio (Zulema Santacruz, 284-6425) is sponsoring a women's health and family fair at the East Las Vegas Community Center 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on March 3.  About 3000 people are expected to attend.  BLM and Friends of Red Rock will have a booth with staff and information in Spanish.  If you would like them to distribute your information, contact Gina Mele of Red Rock (515-5355).

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park has posted its spring/summer hiking schedule

UNLV's Department of Environmental Studies will host the first nationwide Focus the Nation training session April 6 – 7, 2007 and will feature Project Director Eban Goodstein and Oberlin College Environmental Studies Professor David Orr.  Focus the Nation is a national teach-in day on climate change scheduled for Jan. 31, 2008.
