Three 40-foot buses have been wrapped with images exclusively provided by photographer Nicholas A. Price as part of a three-month campaign to encourage Southern Nevadans to Get Outdoors and help fill the need for event and operational volunteers at the four federal land management agencies.  The campaign is a partnership with Nicholas Price, the Southern Nevada Agency Partnership, and the UNLV Public Lands Institute.

Siegfried and Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat will be participating in World Ocean Day June 7th and 8th, 2008. This international celebration presents an opportunity for individuals to learn more about our ocean and to help make a difference. The Mirage Education staff is seeking a variety of community partners to share educational information about their role in helping to protect our environment.  If your organization is interested in participating, please fill out the “World Ocean Day Form” and return it to mgiannantonio@mirage.com or fax it to (702) 862-1896.  Questions should be directed to Missy Giannantonio at (702) 791-7588.

April 19 – 27, 2008 is National Wildlife Week.  To celebrate, NDOW is pleased to present the Spring Issue of Southern Nevada Wild and will be hosting a wildlife viewing event on May 3, 2008.  The “Wildlife Watch” will take place at the Overton Wildlife Management Area, located at Moapa Valley Blvd and Waterfowl Rd, from 10:00 a.m. – noon. 

PLT is offering a special three-day conference exploring the integration of Environmental Education into Teacher Education.  The conference will take place May 28-30, 2008 at the Stanford Alpine Chalet and UC-Davis Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences near Lake Tahoe.  All expenses for lodging, food, and conference material will be provided by a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency’s Environmental Education & Training Partnership program.  For more information, see the flier or contact Kay Antunez, Project Learning Tree Coordinator, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Kay.Antunez@fire.ca.gov or (916) 653-7958.
