About

Education About the Environment (EAE) Strategy is a conservation initiative funded by the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act and created by the Southern Nevada Agency Partnership, which is comprised of the Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and U.S. Forest Service. The UNLV Public Lands Institute (PLI) manages the program on behalf of the federal agencies.

We envision that, in the long term, every resident and visitor will understand, appreciate, and take care of Southern Nevada’s environment. Toward that end, our mission is to strengthen collaborations and support integrated, effective environmental and heritage education efforts.

Our goals are to:

  • Develop and implement a strategy for sustainable EAE in Southern Nevada
  • Foster environmental stewardship in Southern Nevada
  • Maximize effectiveness of EAE efforts by coordinating support resources
  • Improve skill and knowledge of providers of EAE
  • Celebrate our successes with the Southern Nevada community.

Working closely with PLI and the federal agencies is Partners for Education About the Environment, a cooperative partnership of Southern Nevada educators interested in connecting with diverse audiences by creating and utilizing common and effective messages and methodologies.
